The remote for my car alarm won't charge anymore, how can I fix it or where can I take it? I'm in Melbourne.

It's like the battery has worn out and won't hold any charge. The charger is fine, I tried it on something else and it worked fine.

The battery needs replacement and surely you can do a correct job with a qualified electrician to fit the correct battery.

SOURCE: Car remote not working

Sounds like you need a remote, or the remote lost its program. You need to check at the dealership to be sure.

Might possibly be. Pontiacs were really tied into that anti theft security system. They were notorious for breaking. Here is a link to a site about these SECURITY systems. And possible DO IT YOURSELF solutions. http://vatspasslockpasskeysecurityhelp.yolasite.com/

Car won't start and arms alarm when I turn the ignition

Dead battery armed the security system. Remove the battery cable let the system reset. Charge the battery. Use the key to unlock the door instead of the keyless entry. This resets the alarm once the battery is charged.

2003 Dodge Grand Caravan. Remote is broken. Key won't shut off alarm system. What do I Do??

Try changing the battery inside the remote usually that solves the problem but otherwise u might also have broken or loose parts inside the remote from dropping it on the ground,or rubber gasket maybe in in perfectly, if none of those solutions work, it may need to be reprogrammed or replaced, from the dealership.
usually its the coin cell battery eg:2016,2032,etc
and u'll need a small flat precision screwdriver and some patience when opening it.

Wireless Key Remote door & trunk opener won't work with trunk anymore

When you press the trunk open button, do you hear any "release" noise come from the trunk area? The issue may be a bad battery in the key fob OR there could be an issue with the transmitter located inside the vehicle. Do the doors lock and unlock properly? is the vehicle equipped with security or immobilizer? please advise

2004 Hyundai Elantra won't start, emergency flashers keep blinking, can't shut off, lights dim, can't jump start, clicking from under dash from relays. What could it be?

The 'Keyless Entry & Burglar Alarm System" is activated. You must 'Disarm' the system using the Keyless Entry Remove (Key Fob) to "Reset" the system. The reason the engine won't start is due to the burglar alarm - it has a "Starter Kill" circuit which is activated when the alarm is activated. The alarm must be DEactivated to DEactivate the 'Starter Kill' circuit.
Another way to start the engine is to get in the car, put the key in the ignition and turn it to 'ON" and wait 3 to 5 minutes until the emergency flashers stop/turn off. Afterward, you should be able to start the engine. NOTE: This does NOT reset the burglar alarm. It will go off again when you enter the vehicle without using the remote/key fob.

My 2006 volvo s40 won't start and the key (remote) does not work. Had to use regular key to open the door. alarm still on and car won't start.

I had the same problem when my battery went flat and tried to use jumper cables connected to another vehicles battery. I called Volvo and they said I need to disconnect the battery terminal to reset the computer. After re-conecting it the remote control worked again and I was able to jump start the car. Maybe your car's computer went into a similar state.

I have a 2005 JGC 5.7 hemi and sometimes remotes wont work only when you want to unlock it.If you use the key to open door alarm sounds. what could be the problem?

Have you tried a new battery in the remote, or do you have a second remote you can test. Either your remote is worn out or the battery is dead.
Once you lock the car with your remote it will active the alarm and if you use your key it won't deactive the alarm only your remote will, on some cars putting the key in the ignition will deactive it.
If you can deactive your alarm with your remote and can just manualy lock and unlock your doors and that should prevent your alarm from going off until you get a new remote or battery.

I have a 2005 reg toyota verso D4D every time I try using the central locking key it does not work when I try to use the mannual key the alarm goes off I can drive the car but cannot get the alarm to go...

Hello,

Thanks for using FixYa.

Sounds like you have an Alarm remote battery problem. You need to change the remote's battery. The remote's battery gets a little bit of charge whenever you leave it for quite some time. A trip to your mechanic might have been long enough to give your remote's battery a little bit of charge that's probably why it works whenever you get to your mechanic's place. But after that, you've used the little bit of charge that the battery has then It will not work anymore after you get home. Try leaving the remote unused for at least an hour or two then try to use it. Im sure it will work for a bit. Just get the remote's battery changed.

I hope this helps. Have a nice day.
