No not at all, find a good transmission tech near you and have it checked out, it could only be a small fault but if not attended to it will need a $2000.00 repair
To be honest it sounds as if the fluid could be low, on start up it should not need time to build up pressure, however if the fluid is low this type of fault could occur. Find a local transmission shop to check the fluid, but do it soon in the long run preventive maintenance is the most cost affective.

I am assuming you need a schematic for this and that you've check all of the other more common things like broken linkages, low transmission fluid, etc. Other than the wiring diagrams that are found in the Haynes or Chiltons manuals, you would have to get a service manual from a dealer.There just isn't much electrical inside a transmission though that isn't covered in the wiring diagrams found in these manuals,which can be found at your local parts store.
For
car not changing gears it can be shifter assembly issue, or it can also be
transmission issue. Get the shifter assembly inspected with ignition OFF.

i did'nt let the vehicle warm up so that could have been the problem that the fluid did'nt have time enough circulate though like it should...
thanks for the good advice, i did check the transmission fluid and it was low so i filled it to the level and so far it has been doing good. i hope it it will ne a good transmission lol....
