Its a matter of time, if the boot is cracked then the grease inside can come out, when that happens its a downhill slide. Ive seen people drive like that for a long time but eventually it will break. When it does that car will be stuck whereever it broke.

I do believe that from 95 to 99 are direct fit replacement seats. The seats may vary in options but should bolt right in. Good luck and have a great day.

The Dipstick is on the driver side right next to the starter and yes you also put the fluid in there.

Crack CV boot

Your CV (constant velocity) joints are going to go soon if they are not already gone. Do you have a clunk when turning tightly (low or high speeds)? If you already have a clunk then it will be a while before anything more serious occurs. If the joint seizes and an axle snaps then you will be stuck on the side of the road.

1995 Subaru Legacy Gas Gauge

probably your sender unit. do you drive a wagon? if so go into boot area and lift up all your carpet. just behind the rear seat there are 3 or 4 bolts, you need to undo these. then lift out the sender unit and take it to someone who can test it for you.
