Alternator is good, not charging, how can i wire in external regulator
If the alternator is good and it's not charging the battery check you battery terminal. if it's the soft lead kind any sort of crack in the terminal will keep it from charging and will drain the battery. if you find thats not the case you more than likely have a wire loose on the starter or solenoid or a wire grounding out somewhere

use a volt meter and check the voltage with the engine off. should be 12 volts then check again with engine running it should be 13 to 15 volts if no then the pcm is at fault. the voltage regulator is inside the computer control and you will need to have it checked out at a dealership. if bad will have to replace the computer on van to correct the charging system. hope this will help!!!

wires run direct to alternator from battery ,test big lead for a permanant 12v supplyon the back of the alternator if you have one then the problem is either the brushes worn out or the commutator worn through.or the regulator either way its a recon unit as parts are not sold seperate anymore as not many dealer mechanics know how to repair anything and the spares shops make more profit on a unit than parts so they do not sell spares to stop people like me and you from doing our own repairs
