I have same problem: Santa Fe 03 plate, manual, diesel, GSi CRTD

Hyundai are useless - their stock solution is I have to get it looked over by a dealer

!! Easystart is a short-term fix and I've been told longterm use will damage the engine !!

There doesn't seem to be a pattern to it not starting (although the probability seems to be higher after a very cold night)

My glowplugs were changed -- an injector was changed after failing a back-leakage test -- the seals on the pressure regulator were replaced and the crankshaft sensor connector cleaned -- the fuel pressure was found to be weak and the OEM fuel filter was found to be defective (which Hyundai admitted was a known issue with the Kia Sorento and yet they didn't care about it) and full of dirt so the fuel filter was replaced and the tank drained and cleaned

After each of these the car started for a few days then reverted to not starting again

Any help VERY much appreciated :)

I have just had the same problem but solved it.
Firstly, I went to Halfords and purchased a spray tin of Bradex Easy Start.
Then loosen off the air filter cover and give a quick spray inside.
Turn the engine over and bingo, it should start.

What you need to look for is whether the smoke from the exhaust is white. If it is, there is too much unburnt fuek in the engine and the problem lies with the glow plus.

02 hyundai santa fe died abruptly driving down the highway and wont restart the engine cranks but won't start it is the v-6 model

Never seen a big engined petrol one of these ,diesel manuals yes plenty abound ,but this year model on the diesel anyway suffers from a crankshaft keyway problem and it wears away allowing the front pulley and timing gear to move allowing the pistons to hit the valves ,now later models had a deeper keyway as a remedy but yours is a 2002 and this could suffer the same problem as the diesels. So check the timing marks first before you change this and that ,V6 petrol ?? try paying 7 dollars a gallon and then say if the diesel isnt the best for economy

Ones the diesel engine gets weak its thn a hard start!, becausea diesel engine mainly fires up on good compression, i guess its time for an engine overhaul .

The best way is to go to the dealer they may have to order one. Go to the parts department.

Hyundai santa fe 02 glow plugs

If I am Correct, This is not a Diesel Burning Car Right???? If not you will not have Glow Plugs. Glow Plugs were only Installed on Diesel Engines to Preheat the Motor Before Start.

My 02 Hyundai santa fe has trouble starting after I get gas and now in the mornings since it's started getting cold.

I'm not sure if this has anything to do with your problem.. but in 2002 there was a recall on the 01 & 02 santa fe's w/ the 2.7L engine for improperly manufactured crankshaft position sensors and internal gaps within the cases allowing epoxy to contact the printed circuil board, which resulted in cracking of the printed circuit board capacitor. A damaged capacitor could result in engine stalling.  Recall campaign number 03V030000
