Check your alternator see if you have a drop in voltage on your tack, then it is the problem.I too was a victim of high price tune up and still had a problem with a misfire.and cover your coil pack with a piece of rubber water run of onto your power pack .Another thing is to use a silicone spray on all wires.

Without your actual trouble code, I am assuming that you are have a misfire on cylinder # 5. The computer cannot really tell what is causing the misfire only that cyl 5 is not putting out full power. If it misfires when cold then smooths out as it warms up, I would say it is probably an injector that is sticky, as it warms up it starts working properly.

this car also has the 5.7 LT1 engine in it. this problem started when my water pump went bad and started leaking. i changed the water pump and now it has a bad misfire and will not run right. any ideas?
The distributor more than likely has suffered water intrusion. 7 of 8 cylinders will run, 1 may not or be intermittent. If you change the distributor, be very careful about lining up the splines on the back of the distributor to the master in the cam. You will have to pull the water pump and the timing belt pulley. MARK EVERYTHING. You can also hand crank the pulley to top dead center so everything is then set for the 12:00 position. It is also advantageous, although not needed, to remove the fan assembly in front of the engine. It's very east to do. Remove the hoses, two wire connectors, hold down bracket on the top, and it pretty much lifts right out. When re-assembling, fill full of water in case you have to take it apart again.
