Question about 1994 Dodge Ram
I have a 1994 Dodge Ram that I purchased from a family friend and recently it began to stall out on me when I stop. First thing that happens is the check engine light comes on, then the RPM's rev up and down while I drive, then if I stop the engine dies. In order to get it to start back up, I have to give it gas as I turn the key. The only way I have been able to keep it running when I stop is to keep giving it gas and keep the RPM's above 1000. It does this mainly after the engine warms up. I have noticed that after I let it sit for a few days and start it up, it runs better then when I drive it daily. Any advice would be greatly appreciate. Already changed out the PCV valve and the TPS.
Same thing happened to my truck of the same year it was a bad carbon build up in the intake manafold.sorry there's no way to check that i know of but to pull it off.

Hi my name is mike ! on your mustang I would check for a vacuum leak ,that would be possibly from a hose with a hole in it or the hose fell off or broke ,also it could be from your idle speed control solenoid ,if look on the throttle body it is the other device that may have a two wire connector to it ,it will be right by the tps you replaced, it has a maybe 2-3 inch silver cylinder built into it try tapping on it with the handle of a screw driver ,dont hit it too hard ,but it may be stuck ,it may calm the idle down ,the solenoid could be stuck open ,on fords that is a common problem ,they end up at a high idle and most of the time ,if you dont have a large vacuum leak somewhere then I would replace the idle speed control solenoid ,Hp\ope this helps !

The ignition timing is off.
The ECM (Elctronic Control Module) is responsible for that.
Take the Liberty to AutoZone to have them scan the PCM code (free) and ask for an explanation print-out (also free). You might want them to clear the error code afterwards, too (yes, free).
Let us know what the codes are and a summary of the print-out.

Do you have the idle speed turned up to keep it from dying? Because it is high. Check engine light on? Have you checked for vacuum leaks at the gasket under the throttle body? How does the car run under acceleration? You might have a worn distributor shaft.

Testimonial: "Thank you for your tips and ideas you have gave me, One question, but before read my latest update. my car rpms hover around in between 1100 to 1500rpm at idle, but when I shift into drive it goes to a steady 1000rpm... is that good? if not, what are the correct specs. thanks again"
