What I write probably will not solve your problem, at least not immediately, however, this is not all ways possible with every car repair. What I write is the truth. During my automotive career I was a factory trained Peuguot technician, so I speak with a little certainty.

A lot of smoke can have several implications, and I will address the most basic first.

Whether you can do it yourself or have someone else do it, you need to have a compression test made on the cylinders. This is a test that will check both the piston rings and valves.

For example, a low compression reading can mean worn piston rings, which can cause excessive oil burning. This condition would show up as white smoke.

Another condition that would show up as white smoke is water getting mixed with the oil. Both of the conditions I just mentioned would also come with a loss of power.

Unfortunately, there aren't many cheap little fixes that can solve problems, much to the customers demise. Please do remember, the most direct route to any problem is a correct diagnosis, whatever that may be.

If you would like to correspond further with me on this or any other issue, please feel free to do so.

Partner hdi how far beetween timing belts

According to service manual after 80,000 miles in normal use; or 48,000 miles for arduous use. A lot of stop-start driving is known as arduous use. But to be on safe side, give a call to peugeot dealer and all informations are free of charge.

PEUGEOT 1.9 D ENGINE LOSS OF POWER THEN WHITE SMOKE

Have your head gasket checked you may have a small tear or hole in it allowing coolant/water into your engine internals. This smoke and power loss probably also happens at highway speeds yet is not noticed due to cars momentum

Smoke problem

Sounds as though you have water in the oil. The white smoke is the steam. Check your oil by taking the dip stick out and if it looks like mayonnaise then your head gasket will need replacing. Once the head is off the engine block, there is no way safely to say how much work will be needed on the cylinder head. If the head gasket has blown then you will need to fit a new timing belt also.
