Your blower resistor may be wearing out or corrosion setting in. The part is cheap and you can probably replace it. This link shows where an 01 is located. Yours may be in the same spot on on the engine bay side of the passenger firewall. Check with your auto parts store also for location.

SOURCE: 97 dodge ram no spark

then i would replace whats called the hall effect sensor its that black plastic plate you see when you take dist cap off. just pull rotor and lift up the sensor.dist cap is what holds it on.also under the sensor will be a stamped sheet metal piece that looks like the top of a castle wall. make sure its not loose on the shaft.if it is then new dist will be needed

2005 Mercury Grand Marquese accellarator not accellerating motor

Check idle speed, air flow speed, oxygen sensors . Check fuel manifold pressure. If the engine runs ok but will not rev up check the cat converter by hitting with the heel of your hand and listening for rattles as they are prone to failing and blocking up the exhaust system which stops the motor from accelerating

1995 Dodge ram 1500 V-8 5.9 litre 4x4 short bed is feels like it is bumping when the truck shifts into cruising gear and RPMs drop truck smmoths out when you speed up bumping goes away if you shift...

Perform compression check between cylenders #1 and #3. These are right next to each other.
You might get away with a head gasket replacement, if the compression between these cylenders is the same, indicating a blown head gasket between cyl.#1 and #3 not valves which will give different readins between these cylenders.

Backfires in manifold on motor on acceleration. runs ok low speeds

Spark plug wires. If you take it in a garage or wait till it's dark, and have somebody brake torque it while you watch, you'll see spark jumping. But don't get run over! Do it in reverse. Or just change the wires.

Fuel

Your ford has power assisted breaks this power is delivered from the motor, at the point when the accelerator is inactive. There for it sounds like your idle speed setting is too low, if you have a rev counter then it should be reading around 1000 revs at idle, if not the idle needs increasing. Hope this helps
