The brake hoses are more than likely bad and need replaced. These tend to colapse over the years and cause this condition. Have you had these checkd out? Look them over and see if they seemed to be colapsing or kinking. The heat can cause the rubber in the hoses to become more flexible and therefore colapse easier.

SOURCE: a brakes need to be changed front pad and caliper

My advice is that if you have never worked on brakes is to have a mechanic do the job for you as brakes are very important for safety

SOURCE: on my lincoln 96 the brake are sticking on one

The first thing to replace is the front rubber (flex) line that goes to the caliper from the steel brake line. They can go bad on the inside and not allow the caliper to retract when you take your foot off the brakes. If the rear brake is sticking it isn't retracting properly also, but try the front fix first and see what happens.

Front passenger wheel is locking up...changed brake pads n bled the lines...what could cause this

Sounds like you have a bad caliper. Pull off the wheel that sticks and pull off the caliper to see if it is sticking, if so replace it

I have a 2001 Sebring , brand new rear pads, rotars and calipers. Passenger side is sticking but has a lot of pad left. Driver side seems to work but half the pad is gone. Any idea why this is?

Seems like all the brake action is on the driver's side. If passenger side is sticking, it probably won't move in or out effectively. I would pull it off and check it, maybe you got it crooked when mounting it. Or just possibly a bad caliper. Also examine the brake hose on the passenger side for bulges, or anything wrong with it.

What can i use to keep my breaks from sticking? i put on new break pads and they are still sticking.please help me.

your brake caliper or calipers, may be sticking.when you drive it at night, for say 10 miles, then look at the fronf wheels,do you see a fire red glow behind the wheel on the brake caliper.? easy way to tell.jack the car up with the emergency brake on. pump the brakes with engine running, with the transmission in neutral? can you spin the tires by hand? if not, then you have a sticking brake caliper, which will burn the brakes up fast.eventually, the brake caliper will "lock" and then you will not be able to move the car in any gear.if you suspect bad brake caliper, replace both front brake rotors and calipers with new brake pads. easy way to eliminate the brake problems.if you replace the brake calipers and pads only.the rotors may still be warped due to all the heat that occured with the bad brake calipers. you will have a bad steering wheel vibration when braking otherwise. thank you,for choosing fixya.com!

My sons truck when he puts his brakes on his 1993 gmc 1500 truck the brakes pull real bad to the right have already changed rotars, pads ,master cylinder, got air out of line. don't know what to do next.

Check right side tires for proper air pressure, check front end for looseness in any of ball joints, tie rod ends etc. Also check left brake to see if working properly.

I have a 1999 lincoln continental and the front passenger side brake locks when driven for a while.

I just got a 1999 lincoln myself. And the front brakes locked up on it. Try to take off and it spit and sputter's. And floats around when try to stop. I replaced both brake calipers, pads, and one of the rotars. It had grooves wore in it. And changed the rubber hose going to the caliper. That is what the problem actually was. I noticed that the other side had already been changed beforre. But I wasn't sure. The caliper was rusted up where it got hot from rubbing. And it is posible for them to stick. Autozone $38 ea for calipers rebuilt. 40 for the pads. 20 for the rotar. And 35 for the hose. Now it drives like a dream.

Replaced rotar, caliper, and brake pads on a 2000 buick lasbre 3 and haveweeks ago and yesterday they went out again .have to replace all of it again what is causing this to happen

check and make sure calipers are not sticking, this will wear brakes pretty fast. check the hoses to the calipers for restrictions on inside or a collapsed hose. you said you put new calipers on so it may just be the rubber hoses causeing this.

How to change front brake pads

its simple, each brake caliper has two screws loosen the top bolt then take out the bottom one causing the caliper to rise, take out the old brake pads, be careful when installing the new ones to not touch the pads with your hands cause any kind of dirt can throw off the new pads while the calipers are up check the rotars to see how badly damage they are if they are really scratched or not, once placing the new pads into place close the calipers and re tighten the screws into place.

Front Brakes

Interesting, disc brakes don't normally stick. Since there is no tension pressure against the pads like drum brakes.

You indicated you replaced the right caliper and the master cylinder, but no mention of the disc or the piston (Some caliper assemblies are all in one, some are not.)

Here are some thoughts:

Disc is contaminated with oil, grease, brake fluid etc, when you brake, it is absorbed by the pad, gets hot and sticks.

You didn't replace left caliper, piston isn't working well, sending all pressure to right side.

You didn't indicate, new, used or rebuilt caliper. If used, get anew/remanufactured SET of calipers and either semi-mettalic or ceramic pads, and new rotors (I used to get rotors turned, but new replacements are now generally cheaper that turning old ones. When working with brakes I always recommend you work them as a set, regardless of how good the other side looks.

Make sure you clean the rotors with a solvent to ensure any grease or anti-rust agent is removed and dry will with several paper towels.

When installing pads, ensure you do not touch the braking surface of the pad or the rotor, body oil can contaminate too.
Make sure that the siding surface of the caliper is lubricatred with silicone grease designed for calipers (little packets are available at your parts store) On my GM Cars, it is the bolts that mount the caliper, but this varies by caliper design

Hope that is
