Auto gear box jerks in first gear - 2001 Volvo S60

    I also have a problem in first gear with my 2000 S80. When I start out sometimes the car shudders. It seems to only do it with the air on and seems worse when the car is heavier? It displays no codes.

I am not sure exactly of your problem, but my AT gear box would **** into gear usually after sitting at a stoplight/sign. To make a long story short, after a $3500 estimate from a private trans place, I took it to the dealer. Apparently, the S60 was designed to shift into neutral when the car is in drive and not moving. Over time, the space between the "neutral and drive" grows. All that was needed was a software update to keep the AT in drive, when that is what is selected. Hope that helps.

J reg pajero will not engage 5 gear or reverse any ideas please.
If it is manual I would go with clutch or linkages
If its auto box xheck conditions of oil in box as they can cause many a problem. It should be red in colour. I am doing mine this weekend as jerks and is hesitatent at junctions

2008 Chevy Cobalt jerks when put in reverse to drive or drive to reverse, also does a mild jerk when car is trying to get into first gear.
check the auto box breather pipe if its split or damaged replace it. also wile you are under there doing this clean the connectors and plugs in the wiring. if this dont sort it out then the only other thing can think of is the speed sensor not reading..

1999 nissan pathfinder jerks and stall when slowing down or at red light
YOU might find its due to the Auto Matic gear box as when you slow down at the lights or brake hard to stop the auto box should brake free at about 600rpm as to allow the car to stop but the engine to keep idling,but the drive bands in the gearbox and the pump which operate them are not braking free so its like, in a Manual g/box driving and stopping but leaving the clutch pedal and not pushing it in so the car stalls,
SO you may find that the next time you are driving it and come to the lights just try putting it in NEUTRAL gear before you stop and try, if it ok then get the g/box serviced . RON

YOUR problem is that the pump in the auto matic gear box which works the gear changing and forward band ,either isent getting enough trans oil ,or the filter OR body valve in the pan on auto box is not alowing the pistons to operate as they should
SO the answer is to take it into the auto matic people and let them sort it out for you as if you try to fix it your self and you could do a lot of damage and then you would be up for a new g/box assy, Ron
