The ABS sensor was broken during repair. It was replaced but the ABS light is still on. We were told that the ABS module would have to be replaced but the light was never on before the sensor was br
We were told that the components weren't "talking" to each other. Could this be that the code needs to be reset?

you probably have a code in the abs module that needs to be checked out and repaired. it could be a broken wire or bad sensor on the car. the tcl uses the abs module system to indicate any problems.
No no relationship. The abs light can come on for a lot of reasons (Sensor, non abs disc fitted (should be on all the time), plug connections, broken wire in harness, ABS module etc... But the module is a common problem. They normaly get a dry joint inside. My sugestion would be test the sensors at the module plug. I know which pins on an AU but unsure if same. If you decide to replace module & it fixes it pull the cover off the old module & look inside for a dry solder joint (broken or missing solder) can work sometimes & not others causeing intermitent fault. If found just pop some solder on it and keep it for a spare.
If it never goes out than it suggests there is a failure in the abs system during it's sef check. Every time you start the vehicle the abs does a quick self check. If nothing wrong is detected the abs light will goe out shortly after starting. If a fault is detected the abs light will stay on.
Some common failures that cause this are a bad abs sensor and broken abs sensor harness wires.
You can visually instect the harnesses to see if any are broke. You can use a DVOM to check the sensors.
The quickest way to identify the problem is have the abs module scanned for codes. This will identify the problem and give you a better idea of what direction to head into.
the ABS light is on because there has been a fault detected by the ABS module. It has nothing to do with the actual braking system.
The ABS module does a self check every time you start the vehicle. If it detects a problem during that self check the ABS light will stay illuminated and a code or codes for the fault will be stored in the ABS module. Scanning the module will allow you to pull the codes and proceed with diagnosing why the fault is occurring.
The most common source of ABS problems is bad wheel speed sensors or broken wires to the wheel speed sensors. Again pulling the codes from the ABS module will narrow down the possibilities.
Once you now what codes are present post them and we will be happy to assist you further.
