You have two possible areas to check - fuel or electrical systems.

Is fuel getting to the engine? It is possible you have a clogged fuel filter OR a dead fuel pump. To check it, disconnect the fuel line from the injector system at the engine, and have someone "bump" the starter to see if fuel comes out. If it does the pump is working but perhaps not with sufficient pressure to run the engine. Checking that requires special tools, a job for a pro.


Is there ignition spark from the sparkplugs? Try pulling one of the plugs out of the engine, and lay it on the engine block in direct contact with the metal and have someone try to start the engine. If you see a spark jump the gap on the plug, you have spark. If it does work, try each sparkplug, and if there is positive spark on all cylinders it is possible the ignition timing is bad or maladjusted. In this case unless you know what you are doing it is better to have a pro mechanic work on it.

When this happened to my elantra the timing belt broke and destroy the engine because it was a interference engine.

Dead Battery--- start there

Timing Belt -moved or broke

Fuel Pump -quit

to me it sounds more like the timing belt broke ...most of the time when a car with a timing belt at the age of your car suddenly just quits .....it turns out to be the timing belt...have it checked....btw your engine is a interference type engine which means the when the timing belt breaks it bends the valves...meaning a major repair

best to put it on the diagnostics, it could be the auto chock that kicks in it just thinks the engine is cold,

you need to get a diagrm . try googel . timming marks for your car . if the belt broke while driving more then likley there is engine damage
