I did a tune up on the 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier because the service engin light was on and never went out. I changed the air filter and it was still on so I put plugs and wiers on it and then I was told to pull the right turmanel wich it would be the hot post for one minuet to reset the service engein light so I did that. when I did that I took it for a run and I found that the speedomiter-temp-gass-rpms does not work and that means all the gauges dont move but everything else works . what did I do wrong and everything test out good with a test light. william winkleman jr. Check your master cylinder switch in the res. is not stuck down. When started is the light off until you go over 15 mph? If so check your abs relay. Good luck

I would check to be sure you do not have an internal short with in the alternator or accessory relay.

That slushy brown stuff is signs of a blown head gasket. Have a code scanner hooked up to find out why the light is on, it will probably show coolant temperature sensor. Just out of curiosity, check the pvc valve (if your car has one), and see if it's clogged. If it is replace it, the crank case is not getting ventilated.

Yes, take it back. The might of replaced the Egr valve to turn off the light. Don't let them charge you for retesting it, that's why you took it in in the first place.
