Drivers window wont go up or down properly and makes a funny noise

Drivers window wont go up or down properly. It goes so far then starts making loud clunking noises and gets stuck. It then has to be forced up, but wont completely close so theres a gap at the top when the door is closed and the window sits croocked and sticks out a bit at the top.

The teeth on the arm might be stripped or the window motor might be dying. You will have to take off the door panel to see.

Window motors sounds

It sounds like the power locks are making the noise to me. First the power going to the window gets shut off when you shut off the key. Second the window will not make noise unless the cable for the window regulator is broke, then the window will go down and stay down or up and wont go much of anywhere. Try to hold the power lock button and listen for the same noise. Most of the time the one of the switches go bad and keep trying to lock the car. Its usually the one that wont lock or unlock.

Can a timing belt keep your windows from working properly

Make sure the alternator is good. Not enough power will cause assesories not to work properly. But as far as timing belt if its idling to low it will make windows roll up slower. But timing belt its self should not cause any problems with electrical stuff

Driver side window on my 06 impala makes a loud screeching noise when rolling down, usually when it's hot outside, but not when its raining or the window is wet

It depends where the noise is coming from. If it is from the run channel that the window goes up and down in, try spraying silicone spray lubricant in the run channel and see if the noise goes away. If the noise is behind the door pannel. you may need to remove the pannel and check the window regulator assembly. With the pannel off you should be able to locate the noise.

My drivers side window only goes down 1

if the noise is crunchy then the cable is frayed and needs replacing, if the noise is just a humming then either the motor is too weak and needs replacing or the mechanism is out of alignment and needs resetting.
if the window is loose try wiggling the window as you press the button, if you can make the mindow fully descend like this then its definately the alignment, this can be sorted by taking off the door panel and loosening the bollton bolts of the window guide, aligning them so the window is firmly bun not tighlt held, then tighten the bolts and test the window, you may need to try a slightly looser setting or slightly tighter setting to get the best performance out of the window, oiling the moving parts of the window mechanism cant do any harm, just dont get oil on the window itself or it will smear for weeks...

until you remove the door panel and inspect the problem it will be hard to say . but i would probley say that window mtr is going bad, the bearing at the gear is most likely worn out
