OBD II Fault Code P8227

if you look that up on a normal OBD code its listed as P1604 Code Word Unregestered However for a volvo thats a code for Control Module Self Test, Speed Monitoring which would indicate the ECM or a wiring problem ( usually just a loose connection,, so check the connections on the ECM, which you can have scanned by the dealer, Volvo codes vary from the normal coding on most cars, so be careful when getting codes and their meanings

1132-This Relates to Heated oxygen sensor (H02S) 1, bank 1/heated oxygen sensor (H02S) 2, bank 1 - signal incompatibility
1618-This Relates to Cable fault between AW 50-Q2 TCM and Motronic 4.4 ECM (lamp lights)
1238-This Relates to Turbocharger (TC) boost pressure sensor - boost control malfunction
0137-This Relates to Bank 1, Sensor 2 - Circuit Low Voltage for O2
0722-This Relates to No Signal in Output Shaft Speed Sensor Circuit

I would assume that these are 'P' codes.Please advise if they have a different letter prefix or nothing at all.

Try deleting them all first then just focus on the ones that wont reset,followed by those that come back on after driving or using that area.

CODE P1618 CABLE FAULT BETWEEN AW 50 Q2 TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE.AND MOTRONIC 4.4 ENGINE CONTROL MODULE LAMP LIGHTS.

Code 1633 is not a manufactures code, it is a genetic one, and is not as specific as a volvo code.
The best thing to do is take it to a volvo shop and get the specific code.
I did find a meaning for it------- speed signal missing or absent.
That could mean either a wheel speed sensor, or a vehicle speed sensor is at fault, that's why you have to get the specific code.

aw50-52 is the transmission. motronic is the fuel system. it means the two modules are not communicating with each other.you will need a pinout diagram for these modules and go from there.its difficult to remove computers on late volvos without the speciall tool.furthermore getting an acurate diagram other than a volvo service manuel [paper service manuels were discontinued in 2000].will be near impossible. in this case it makes sense to bring to the dealer.

Volvo does not provide information regarding DTC P1633 for many of their models.
However, it has been reported that various Volvo engine control modules will produce this code. The code is associated with a missing or inaccurate vehicle speed signal from the ABS control module and may be accompanied by DTC P0722 or P1618.
