My 2003 Honda CRV is making a high pitch whining noise when I'm driving. Not constant, seems to happen after I drive at higher speeds over 60 mph and after I've driven for 20 minutes or so. Then it'll continue even when I slow down. Does not make this noise when I'm stopped. If I turn slightly and touch the brake the noise stops. It happens when I'm going straight. Any advice would be appreciated.

If the sound gets higher pitched with higher speed, you may have a bad wheel bearings. If the whining stays constant, there may be something rubbing like the brake backing plate (especially on drum brakes). Try putting your hand near the backing plate after you drive it a bit. The friction from rubbing will make it hot.
any car the rpm shouldn't exceed the 4000 round per minutes and you can check it from the sound of the car if it's so loud you should decrease the acceleration pad or give the next gear if it's manual if it's automatic don't panic
Check your power steering fluid level. If too low the pump will whine like that. Put some in it if low. Don't buy power steering fluid, automatic transmission fluid is the same thing and is much cheaper.
Does the high-pitch whine exist when the engine is just running? Not moving (transmission is not in gear)? Running but with transmission in neutral (coasting down hill)?
Well how short a drive is it.........to get you to go nuts. Is it a high pitched whine? If so look to your right. Is the wife sitting there? If so. That's the problem. Going 75-80 in a 25mph school zone will cause that. And where is the speed limit 75-80 anyway.
It's the radio, btw, install an inline filter to filter out the alternator noise.
The high pitched whine in reverse sounds normal for a honda. Ever honda I have had makes a similar noise while in reverse. The spinning, scraping noise in drive is not normal. You might want to see a mechanic about that.
