Inner door panel removal on year 2000-3500 Chevrolet Epress Van. The panel is made of composition plastic material.

These are generally labor intensive and no fun to repair. You must remove the door panel. This requires special tools to keep from damaging the retainers. There are plastic retainers that fit into the door and the door panel is a composite material like press board. When you remove this then you need to remove a sound dampening sheet that is very sticky. Then you can see the internal workings of the window with the motor and the pulleys. You may find window guides and other parts that are broken or damaged.

Thanks for choosing FixYa. More then likely, your track is broken. It will need replaced for the window to operate correctly. You will need to take off the panel and any material inside the door out, such as foam or plastic. The track bar needs changed. If you have other questions, please let me know. You can pick up the handle from your local GMC dealer. I paid roughly $90 for both (a bit high...but money well spent!) As noted, yes; you do have to remove the interior door panel. From there it's just a matter of removing 4 nuts (metric #10 socket), and replacing them back once the new handle is slipped into place! The bars that operate the door latches simply snap into the plastic clips attached to the handle assembly.
The operation sounds worse then what it really is. It took me longer to write up this review than it did to actually do the work! 5 minutes max...done!! Hell, if you're local; buy the parts

you will have to remove as many screws as you can get to then pop it out the whole panel is not coming out easy ,you must get an open to get a long screw driver to push the latch release once open then completely remove panel, good luck its a pain becareful not to break panel.

You'll ned to remove the inner trim off the inner door first (handle, any arm rest or such, look low for screws) after removing all trim pieces the inner door panel will need to be removed; start in lower corner pulling straight out, work with the top of the panel last, I expect it is hooked into the upper portion of the door. After removing panel and some plastic sheeting (weather protection) you should have access to the inside of the door where the motor sits.
