All sign is pointing to a bad electric switch.
The ignition switch is consist of three parts.
1)key way 2)steering lock 3)electrical system
In your case,it can be a bad switch and/or worn linkage point where they connect.
As you turn the key, there is a shaft/linkage (just like a screw driver) that turn the electrical switch,
Over time the plastic center will worn down or crack.

Depend on your skill level you can pass a vacuum over the hosing to clean to as far as replacing the electrical switch.
This is a very inexpensive $15 part. ~1 hour of labor time.

My 2000 doge voyger died, & when i did get it to start it wont stay running! I got it to my house and put a new fule filter on it. it started right up on the 2nd try! It ran for 2 or 3 minutes then...

test the old one with a ground and a live wire away from fuel tank is best but need to remove to change....be sure you have good reliable power to pump...problem could be supply power especially if fuel pump works when you jumpshort it.should make a whirring sound.

Driving along it just died. added gas but when it died it did not sputter or cough. wont start. gauges seem to work except the gas gauge dont come up when key is on. fuel pump?

Yes it is most likely the fuel pump. the gauge is integrated with the pump, the sending unit is built into the pump assembly located in the fuel tank.

I have the same problem

fuel problem, try to key it up "turn key to on but dont start it" 3 or 4 times before starting it, check fuel psi at fuel rail. replace fuel pump, it is losing it prime IE air in the fuel system. u can try to replace fuel filter first u wont be losing anything/money it needs replaced anyway when u do the pump ......do the pump :)

Car died and wont start

The fuel injector motor or called the Idle Air control module is not the failure. The fuel pump is overheating and dies out. Thus when letting sit a while the engine is starting up again.
I woult take vehicle to local shop and have them replace the fuel pump , I suggest not getting taken for a complete tune up. Just the fuel pump is the most cost effective way .
