This is transmission related problem.Its not transmission problem directly.But this all gear indicator light coming up at same time, is indication to get car scanned.The TCM went into emergency running mode to prevent damage to the transmission. That's why it does not work when all gear lights are red. The TCM limits the functionality of the transmission . It can be TCM ( transmission control module ) issue or problem with transmission speed sensor might be failing and went into this mode. Ususally, turning the car off and restarting resets it .It some cases it automatically gets resets and lights go black and it starts working.But getting the car scanned is advisable.---------- ------------ It's called "limp mode". IF the onboard computer detects a fault of what it thinks is of serious importance, the computer will place the transmission into limp mode to protect the transmission. There could be a variety of issues causing the ECU to place the transmission into limp mode. Getting the computer scanned will indicate correct code for this problem.------ You need to get it scanned to see what the fault is in the transmission control module. Its a sporadic problem, so it works fine sometimes, but when it acts up, it sets the fault again, illuminates the gear display, and puts the transmission into limp mode. Could be something like the gear recognition signal. But first you need to see what fault it is storing.So as per that , you can start getting it repaired.------- This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.
