Persists across restarts, does it? Well, AOL's an ISP rather than a program per se, though they do have branded browser software distribution going on. I think what I'd do would be to install Chrome ( http://google.com/chrome ) or Opera or Firefox 7 and see what was different. As things are it seems like a browser utility or XSS (AOL's, Facebook's...possibly whoever's changed right when things bogged down there) got itself in deep enough that it tripped on itself. You could try extracting or updating things, but I hope it will be nice to have a clean start, and reasonably easy to get passwords and bookmarks updated (and check out the new Tab Palette shortcuts.)The trivial answer for resetting the computer is to load a backup of course; you do have one of those handy USB3 backup drives taking regular snapshots of your system (drive), right?

Why don't you try a simple test glazing or pot firing, something you don't care if you lose and see how it goes?
I assume it has a place to set the temperature? If so what is the problem? Just make sure the kiln is away from any flammable objects and watch the kiln while it is running (don't leave it unattended).
It does happen like that too in yahoo messenger. Just remove it by uninstall it and re-install it again. That should make it work. You will then be able to see what is sending to you.
