I have a toy hauler with a 5500 guardian gen. It runs but recently it won't supply any 110 power to any of the electrical items in the camper.

Guardian rv generator troubleshooting

You need to manually start it, and see if you have power right at the generator, if you do then it is somewhere in the coach. If you don't check the gen breaker, and have the gen checked

I have 110 at all my outlet's and the a/c work's but I have no 12 volt (lights in camper don't work) where's a good place to start on this

Your lights are 12volt.

Either, the lights work off camper 12V dc battery...
Or they work off 120Vac transformer with 12Vzc output.

If lights work when camper is not plugged into 120Volt, and there is not separate fuse or circuit breaker for the lights, then I guess the light work off the battery.

There is probably a cartridge fuse located under steering column
Many items on dashboard are fuse-protected with plug-in fuse available at auto parts.
Call local auto shop and ask where the fuses are located, or call local RV shop.

Generator starts with and runs great, but theres no current on my toy hauler

Johnny,

If generators are not used regularly, they need the their magnetic field to be charged (or flashed). This can be done by plugging an electric motor into the socket while the generator is running and spin the motor by hand. The hand-spun motor will push some electric current back into the generator and magnetize it enough to start it.

Look in the manual. There is likely something about field flashing the magnetic field2.gif. The easiest way to do this is to.
1) start the generator
2) plug an electric drill into the generator (without drill bit)
3) make sure drill is set to forward direction (if a reversable drill.
4) pull the trigger on the drill.
5) If the drill does not start, spin the drill's chuck clockwise (When looking down at the chuck from the drill bit end). Spin counter-clockwise if holding it like a pistol and pointing away from yourself.
6) Do this several times (hard) until the the generator will kick in and suddenly make the drill spin at full speed.
Be careful not to drop the drill or poke someone with it as you celebrate success.

I hava a 20kw NG guardian gen. When it does its weekly 12 min. test run it most always runs rough and seems to be choaking itself to death.

I have a 400kw unit that does the same thing, I found the regulator needed to be execersized. when the unit starts I shut the isolation valve ahead of the regulator and then when it almost shuts of the gen. i open the valve back up and then everything is ok, hopefully after awhile it will work right.
