I just bought a Terapin TX-0002 CD burner from a second-hand store. What brand of CD-R will work? It's getting a signal but I can't figure out how to start recording.

Do an internet search for Terapin TX-0002. Go to the Amazon page i the results. Aways down on the page you will see a link to download the manual in pdf format.

cd-r blank discs

any digital audio cd-r will work. i found that maxell digital audio cd-r's work the best. you can pick them up a 20 pack for around $15

I do not know if it will help but i do know that if you do have the original remote control, press the M button, make sure your inputs are the ones selected or else there will be now picture. You can hook this up so many ways but chances are your settings are off, press the M button then press the right arrow key (looks like fast forward key) to change current setting, then press the next key to select the next option, after you have all your hook-ups selected press confirm, it takes about 10 seconds then the picture should come up, if not try the digital cable or the s-video

There are TWO differences between STD CD-R and those labelled MUSIC/AUDIO by the manufacturers. One is financial, the other is technical.

Firstly, if a CD is labelled MUSIC/AUDIO and sold within the USA, the manufacturer pays a royalty to RIAA as a way to compensate its members.

From a technical standpoint, the CD has a 'flag' on it that describes it as MUSIC/AUDIO and it is optomized for recording at 1X speed.
