Problem with DV output on ag-dvc30

Hello,

I've had my ag-dvc30 for about 4 years now and just recently am I having problems with capturing video. Both of my pc's do not recognize the device. I have also tried four different DV/firewire cables. I am sure it is not the computers or the cables. I am also sure that all DV cables were used properly with this camcorder (never inserted upside down as I read in one of your responses). I am starting to wonder if the camcorder is malfunctioning on me.

- Thanks for your help!!!

It is possible that you have a faulty firewire port or cable that is sending electricity through one of the pins that is not designed to handle it. If one of the six pins at one end of a cable is bent, for example, it can electrocute whatever is at the other end.
It's been a while now - did you ever get this problem solved?

This is usually caused by an oxidized, misaligned or defective Audio/Video drum. You can try running a cleaning tape through the camera. If this does not solve the problem the camera will need to be serviced by a qualified service technician.

Auto lock not threaded

sounds like the threading mechanism isn't able to completely thread the tape. there may be something obstructing the travel of one of the threading arms that pulls the tape around the head.

Only one channel when using my xlr adapter in AG-DVC30

XLR cables only carry one channel. There is an option in your camera to split into two channels - enable it, or split into two channels in post. To record left and right from the DVX using XLR cables, you'll need one for left, and one for right.

Good luck.

Converting vhs tapes to computer using camcorder

I think it's possible if you change a setting on your camcorder.  Turn your camera on to VCR and then hit the menu button.  Look at 4. AV In/Out Setup and make sure your DV Out is set to ON.  I think this will make it work.  If not, try changing your playback functions.  I think the problem either lies with the fact that the camera is using its RCA connections as outputs instead of inputs, or it's not sending the signal on to the VCR.
Hope this works for you -
