I was wondering if anybody knew where i could find a service manual for my minolta x-700 camera. i was trying to replace a bad capacitor, but i think i may have disrupted something, and now i'm not getting any power.

This is an electronic failure in the cameras shutter release mechanism. Capacitors will need to be replaced and circuit boards need to be cleaned of the electrolytes that have leaked onto them. This can be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired by a qualified service technician.

It sounds like the same problem I had your capacitors need to be replaced. They store the energy needed to fire the shutter when you depress the button. Most camera shops are aware of this problem and the can obtain the parts. The replacement requires camera tear down and soldering in the parts. If you don't feel comfortable doing this then take it to the repair shop.

Wonderful Capacitors probably need replacing by a camera shop the camera has two happened to me on my honeymoon didn't know at the time what the problem was.

Can you trip the shutter?
If the shutter does not release, usually the camera repair shops would replace the shutter release capacitors.

Shutter reapirs are not user fixable. i would recommend you send it in for repair by a qualified technician.

They prevent the shutter from releasing, so you cannot wind to re-**** the shutter. If you're handy at these things, you can buy the caps, remove the covers, solder in the new caps, and be fine. Hate to be the bearer of bad news sounds like my camera! The capacitors are notorious in these cameras they dry out if you don't use the cameras regularly and they need to be replaced most camera shops are aware of this. The parts are available to them on micro-tools.com if they have a hard time sourcing them. Hope this helps
