My oreck cord-free is a JP8100c series. I have had this iron for years and really like it. just recently it will heat for a second or so than the light goes off, I tried holding the reset button and I can hear a little sound like something trying to reset. I did get it hot enough to do the little ironing I needed to do, and I need this fixed or a new iron

Good news and bad news.

The good news is I found a website with your iron model and the parts, however, the bad news is that the manufacturer decided to discontinue the base the part that heats up your iron. But, if you would like to purchase another one, eBay and Amazon have some great deals. Just in case you want to contact the website I previously mentioned the # is 877-346-4811. Or you can go to ReplacementParts.com. I hope that you find what you're looking for.

SOURCE: my oreck iron does not heat up

Looked at several solutions, I think your best bet is to copy and paste this link below into your browser. It is a manual for your oreck iron. There is a number for support for your product.

SOURCE: I have described my problem repeatedly. Again -

Ok whenever an iron stops heating it is either the Thermal Fuse,or the Element or the actual temperature control. One would have to use a meter to check the Voltage at the element of the iron. & Test the Thermal Fuse.
Also though with Cordless irons it may simply be that your batteries aren't working as they should. They can quickly be ruined if not charged correctly.
I do NOT think, that this is a job for a home repair due to the added complexity that the batteries add.
You need to take it to a professional repair center and ask for a "Quote" before allowing any repairs to proceed. As the cost of repair may exceed the cost of a new one.

My Oreck Cordless iron stopped heating. The "Heating" light on the iron lights, but there is no heat.

Check and test this possible fault:
- Blown fuse
- Faulty or broken thermostat
- Broken power cords
- Broken heating elements

Hope helps.

My iron will not heat when plugged into to the wall socket. Tried different places. Light comes on but won't heat. press to reset light stays on.

try opening the iron and see if the wires are connected to the thermostat/heating element, if not you can easily tie them again, it sometimes happens when the thermostat fails to open the circuit and the heating elements over heat and causes a break in the line or heating element.

My iron is filled with water but won't steam - why?

No heat ! It's probably an electrical problem. If the electrical cord is connected to the iron properly, then it's probably one of the swithes to the iron.

Oreck Cordless Speed Iron

Try an Oreck store or customer service.

If not I would suggest Ebay or something of the sort that would have odd and end parts
