Blown Fuse on Compressor of Dehumidifier

I have a Maytag M3DH30B2A dehumidifier, about 5 years old. The compressor was not turning on, while the fan was turning on. I traced the problem down to a fuse attached directly on the compressor unit, and this fuse is blown.

In looking for a replacement, I would like to know what type of fuse I can use. The dehumidifier itself has a rating of 4.7 A (at 115 V), while the compressor unit has a rating of 23 LRA. Hence, what fuse should I use? Does it need to be a delay type to accomodate the 23 LRA? The package of the fuse is something round that I have never seen before - about 1 inch diameter and 3/4 inch high. It has a number B170-150-241C.

Thanks for any info!

I have similar problem , (Compressor not turning on) but fan turns on fine.
I opened the dehumidifier , cleaned up all the dust. Did not find any thing obvious.(frost on the pipes etc and any burnt part).

Would like to know how to check the fuse for compressor ? Where it is located ?

    Thanks
    DJ

On my unit, the fan kicks right on, and the display seems accurate. The black cylinder (compressor?) is hot to the touch, although there are no scorch marks or damaged wires anywhere. Another posting said to look for a 'switch' attached to the compressor with red wires, but the only wires attached to that black cyclinder (about the size of a Fosters Beer can), are green and yellow.

That part is a thermal protector. If you can't find it at Radio Shack they should be able to direct you to an appropriate electronics store.

How do you charge the maytag humidifier w/ r22

you cant change to a different gas without changing the compressor oil...they have different properties that dont mix with other gasses... in some cases the compressor also needs changing

It runs but there is no water coming out. We have checked the hose for a blockage. What else could it be?

If the compressor is running but no air is blowing out, then your fan motor is shot. If the fan is blowing air but you don't hear the click and vibration when you turn it on, then your compressor needs replacing. Those are the most likely culprits.

Compressor turn on briefly, no water collected

Sounds like the low pressure cutout switch is stopping your compressor running, especially if the "6 seconds" you mention are exactly the same length. Not enough refrigerant would be the usual cause, but the reason for the refrigerant loss is harder to tie down - possibly a seal or a loose valve seat or even a pinhole in a copper tube. Best solution now would be to take it to a refrigerator mechanic to top it up and check for leaks - get a quote first to check - 'fridge gas is getting costly. Other possible solution is that the low pressure switch itself is faulty, relatively inexpensive to replace (but unfortunately you will need at least a partial gas recharge on most types of system after) - your fridge gas guy will be able to check very easily if there is adequate gas in the system, and should check this low pressure switch if there is not.
