I had the same problem with a HP Pavilion PC running vista. The way I fixed this problem with to plug the USB into a USB port on the PC not using a ext USB Hub. I did have to go into the sound in the control panel and change the default so the other programs would use the correct sound.
I have had the same experience as all others after buying a new PC with Vista Premium. I solved my problem by buying a USB card with a VI6212 chipset controller. I got this from a local PC shop for $20AU in Cairns Qld. The chipset is made in China so they must be fairly common. After installing the card my VOIP problems had gone. The issue seems to be with Vista recognising the microphone of my webcam and the speakers of the monitor in priority over the VOIP (these devices where loaded before VOIP). Therefore when you load the VOIP driver it loads as a generic device not a composite device. I suspect this is why there is variation between reported problems with speakers vide microphones. The Vista device manager will display Error 10. While there is a Microsoft hotfix (933262)it will not solve the problem. Vista SP1 wont help. Nor will the updated driver offered on the Philips website. However, I recommend using the latest Philips 3.8.3 driver. Until the problem is solved properly by Microsoft/Philips, I suggest to save the heartache you invest in the USB card. Laptop users should look for and equivalent USB hub. Please note I am not sure if the VI6212 chipset is significant - but I do know it works.

Cannot get philips voip 3212S/05 duo phones to work with vista. Have tried everything including download from Philips and their technical support line. They don't seem to have a solution, can anyone help?
Phillips voip321 not working with windows vista
same problem. Does not recognise voip321 as audio devise. After re-installation of vista(!) it worked for a short time: the next time i restarted vista i had the same problem again! All the work for nothing!
Philips VOIP321 bought new end August '08. CD in the box was V4.0. I even uninstalled Skype so that the CD would load the correct VOIP driver and Skype version, but still in device manager there is the dreaded yellow warning triangle saying the 'device cannot start (code 10)' and device does not show in the Audio config area.
The phone works fine with the kid's old XP machine. I have spent three days solid on this now and yes the kids are complaining as they are still on school holidays!
I have even done the above with all protection turned off, as well as trying other USB sockets as forums suggest. The phone box/packaging clearly says Vista compatible as does the Philps website.
I wait for a reply now from Philips help desk as well as you guys. Thanks in advance! Here's hoping!!
