I have a craftsman lt 2000 I was mowing and put the brake on to pick up a stick, i never left the seat just bent over, then when I put it in forward (hydro stat) the tractor would not go anywhere, I check the belt appears fine the brake does not appear to be sticking I pulled of the back cover and the pulley on the top of the transmission is turning. Any thoughts

The brake mechanism is likely stuck, if you pull the hydro release rod and attempt to push the mower it should free wheel reasonably well, if it continues dragging then the brake shoes are likely seized, even though the arm may be free

Craftsman Garden Tractor 26 HP 6 speed transaxle First mow of the season. mowed 15 ft. pressed in clutch to look behind at how it was mowing let clutch out to go no forward movement. belt seams good.

Make sure the transaxle disengagement lever is not in the neutral position. On most lawn tractors, this lever is a stiff wire -- sometimes with a loop on the end -- that sticks out of a slot above and to the right of the trailer hitch bracket on the rear panel, below the seat. Most tractors move under their own power when the wire is all the way in, and can be rolled around without the engine running when the wire is pulled out.

Engage blades engine shuts down

if you removed the seat and then placed a fuse in the plug for the saftey switch and then started having this issue . with my experience with the safty switches on the seats most are open as not connected to make a circut when your sitting on the seat or pressure is applied to the seat . try removing the fuse and attempting to start mowing or least ingauge the blades and that should fix your issue ... when removing the origonal seat you just left that curcut open so it can not close and make connection when you get off the seat . so you should be fine after removing the fuse from the socket .. happy mowing

WILL NOT START craftman LT1000 YR.2000

most likely the blades are still in the on position, but you have a seat switch, parking brake switch, and the blade switch, also the mow in reverse key switch. if mower dies once you let out the clutch in reverse with blades on and key wrong.

My craftsman lawn tractor 42" cut (2007 model) cuts off when i try to engage the cutting blades

You have a safety switch somewhere that is open, like the seat, you have to be in the seat or it will kill the engine, sometimes the clutch has to be in, not moving, sometimes the gear selector in neutral, You have a bunch of safety switches that prevent the mower from spinning if you are not in your seat, not ready, etc. Check them out. Hope this helps.

My mower dies when I put it into gear when I am trying to mow. It works fine for my husband. How can I change the level of sensitivity on the seat safety switch? We have a Craftsman DLS 3500 lawn tractor.

The seat is adjustable. Move the seat forward to fit you better. There is no adjustment on the switch itself. You just need to put more weight in the seat.
