We have a panasonic pt-43LCX64 tv that we've owned for 5 years with a rather large u-shaped yellow tint. My husband said it looks like there might be a heat defect in the lens (he surmises that's what it is called.) Changing the light lamp does not change the yellow image. Can this part be replaced by us and what is the usual cost? It's a matter of fixing this TV or buying a new one. Thanks

You might have bad solder joints on the vertical output IC. I do not know where it is located in this set only that it will be mounted on a metal heat sink near three wires that have identical plugs which go to the deflection yokes on each crt tube. Sets vary as to placement of vertical IC. Solder joints should be easily seen if you have good eyes or use a magnifying glass. I do know that the vertical IC will be on the board that has the highvoltage transformer on it (has big red wire). You may have to unplug the board and turn it to the soldered side or just turn the entire chassis up 90 degrees to see the connections. If this is not the problem I don't know how to get into the service mode at this time.Hope this helps
