The manufacturer does no recommend that you replace batteries yourself (presumably to ensure that it retains the waterp.roof seal)
See excerpt from their web site support.
"Do not attempt to repair the watch yourself. It is strongly recommended
that a certified jeweler, watch repair technician or Freestyle service
center replace your battery. This will help in preventing water leakage
from improper battery replacement, which is not covered in your
warranty.
"
The reason why the advice is worded like this is to discourage inexperienced people from changing their watch batteries and botching it up.
Anyone experienced with watch battery changes knows all of the particulars, like lubricating gaskets and making sure they're properly aligned in the groove before attaching the back plate. Most FreeStyle watches take a common CR-2016 coin cell battery. However, it is common for the watch to require a reset after a battery change. Unlike CASIO, FreeStyle has not labeled the reset contact point on the movement (or module). Any inquiries to FreeStyle about this results in "please send us your watch." Even though one assures them that they have plenty of experience with watch battery changes, FreeStyle will not divulge the "secret" of how to reset the watch. I have been searching the Internet for anything on this, but so far have not turned up anything useful. It is rumored that there is a diagram floating around that points out the reset contact point. If anyone who reads this knows what I am talking about, please provide any info you can. Thank you!
