When you connect a data projector or external monitor to the external video port on the laptop, power up the data projector or external monitor first then the laptop. The video info will automatically divert to the data projector/external monitor automatically.
If you have already had powered up the laptop first, most laptops will allow you to toggle between the LCD screen and the external video port by pressing the Fn key plus one of the Function keys, this key will have a screen/laptop symbol.
Your new install of Windows will be using generic drivers. You need to update to the specific touchpad drivers. Download them from Trigem (Averatec is a brand name owned by trigem) http://www.trigem.com/us/support/drivers.asp
look in device manager for sound card name. You can update driver from here. Or you can open pc, look at card and find out what kind it is and then google the driver for that card and download it.

Have you tried a new battery in the stylus? They require AAAA size batteries. The first time my pen went out I thought it was the computer not responding, but it turned out to be a dead stylus battery.
http://www.averatec.com - do "shop averatec"
or you can call customer support and talk to them. you have to pay for a new copy- but it's like $30 or less.
Good luck.
