Could be a number of problems, Faulty pressure switch or if it is controlled by an electronicon it could be a faulty k4 relay switch inside the controller. You could have a blocked separator or a faulty mpv valve. If the unit has an integral dryer that could be freezing up and i have had a problem with a load relay bleed off being blocked. If not it could be the unloader valve, One way to check if it is electrical rather than mechanical is to pull the plug to the solenoid while the problem is occurring, if it Carry's on blowing while the plug is off then it is mechanical.
