I have a Hobart Dishwasher model LX30, it seems to stall when in the fill cycle from the start, which blocks any further function except shutting down, on the screen there appears a wrench insignia.

Hobart LX30H ML 104354 Manual Page 28
According to the manual ... the wrench icon comes on with OTHER codes for the LX30. Did you get a flashing P1, P2 or P3?
Or for that matter, get any associated E codes to come up?

Depending on the P or E codes there are fixes discussed on prior Fixya answers for this machine ... search there for more help

SOURCE: hobart lx30 : rinse cycle

The rinse water in a LX30 is driven by water pressure. A solenoid valve, bottom front - gold body, opens up and allows the water to flow.

If you are referring to the rinse agent pump, there must be NO leaks in the tubing or the hose that runs through the pump. And if the unit has lost its prime, using your hand to "seal" it, and forcing water from the faucet into the line can prime it.

Good luck - Mike

SOURCE: dishmachine won't fill

Your problem is as straightforward as your observation, the unit is not getting enough water flow.

First, if your DW water is hooked up with a braided stainless hose, there is usually a screen in the end of it, (check both ends). It gets clogged with debris and chokes off the water. Make sure the line is not kinked.

If that doesn't work, you are likely having trouble with your fill valve. It is under the front kick panel. It has a large castle like upper cap. It is common for debris in the water to make this valve malfunction. It isn't too difficult to open up without removing. Just watch how it is assembled. If you pay attention, it's easy. If you have a booster, the hoses are very brittle with age.

And otherwise, the fill valve may be bad. REMEMBER, verify your supply water flow where it connects to the machine first. Don't assume. You could have a pressure regulator or a line strainer that is part of your supply line. They do fail. But that's a plumber's fix, not a technician.

SOURCE: hobart lx30 E3 error

Error Code E3 relates to a problem with the fill. Specifically that the water level has not been recognized at the middle water sensor. This can be caused by a problem with the drain system as you describe, or by low water pressure to the machine (should be 15-25psi flow), or bad wire connection to this middle sensor.
Check for proper water pressure first (should be a gauge on the machine) during the fill. Then check / repair drain as needed. These will probably eliminate the problem

Water wont come in the dishwasher. It is heating with out water and then smells like plastic burning. Hobart LX30

Check that your supply faucet is open, Check if there is a screen in the supply line, these can become blocked due to scale deposits from the mains. If there is no screen check that the inlet solenoid valve has not got blocked. If none of the above help, check that there is power getting to the solenoid valve when the machine is supposed to be on the fill cycle. If no power is getting to the valve, the timer might be faulty. (You can try hand filling the machine and see if it goes through a cycle, at least up to the rinse stage, this will tell you if the timer control is working).

Hobart LX15H indicates E4 and will not fill.

This is what I found in the manual...and on a couple of other sites....

Machine won't fill or won't fill high enough(LX18, LX30 display shows "E0," "E2," "E3," or "E4")

1.Low water pressure — check for clogged hose strainer; check that site water pressure meets minimum flow pressures.
2.Make sure probes are clean.
3.No water pressure — main water supply valves may not be working.
4.Drain valve open - turn machine off to drain machine, then on. Repeat twice (this assists in clearing any drain valve obstructions). Wait for machine to reach READY mode and press WASH. Slowly open door several seconds later and note water level. Close door; 30 seconds later, open door slowly and check that water level is the same as it was. If not, repeat the
OFF-ON procedure.
5. Delime machine.

If this doesn't help let me know and I will get to the bottom of it....good luck and thanks for rating my effort...The Fang.
