If the sputter got real bad, I could smell what smelled like weed eater gas inside the cabin. As you could also imagine, there is a loss of power.

If the engine has a miss or power loss, the check engine light should be on.

Slow start, has new battery, clean injectors, loss of power on hot days (will shut down and coast to a stop)

Bad fuel pump,a possible, on the shutting off issue.
Loss of power, most likely a separate issue.
Need a clean fuel filter. It should last two or three years or 30,000 miles though.

Loss of power and usings lot's of fuel!

Hi
Most likely that will be your EGR valve, thats "Exhaust Gas Recycler" valve, it basically forces any unburnt fuel back into the engine to re-burn thus cuts the emissions. when they go you will lose a lot of power and the car will almost feel like it is twice as heavy. you can clean this part with carb cleaner and it may work again, It is strange how your ford dealer have not picked it up.

Does the engine light come on at all?

Also other thing it could be your air mass sensor, agaian you can clean this and it may still work, this part regulates the air to mix with the fuel you would lose power with this also and the car would hold back.

Let me know if you need specifics.

Regards
Dan

Turbo and emmisions problems

I've done quite a few of these cleaning procedures with relative success. Occassionally one comes back and needs it again and next week I'll be replacing my first turbo. Most people are far too lazy to go through the entire procedure. It should take a whole day. Also, the pcm software NEEDS to be at the latest update level. Some things you can do are avoid unneccessary idling, use your exhaust brake (if equipped), and don't drive it like a girl scout. It's a 400 hp turbo diesel built to do WORK, not cruise to church on Sunday. If you don't work with it enough to utilize the power you should throw 6 or 800 pounds of cinder blocks in the back and head out to some good hills or mountains every couple of weeks. Short trips are also bad for it. Atleast once a week, I'd take it on a 20 mile or longer ride at continuous speeds no less than 55 mph. It's an awesome truck and could relocate the pentagon if the need arises. It was built to work. It wants to work. Try not to waste that on soccer practice.

Loss of power and acceleration on Mazda 6 Turbo diesel 2003

I'm assuming that that smoke was more previlant while going uphill because that's when the turbo would be really spolling up to max psi. I would guess that if you really got on the gas hard and got the turbo going even on a flat surface, that you would notice the smoke too. The loss of power and the white/grey smoke are tell tale signs that your turbo is bad or starting to fail. Good luck!
