You may need to tighten your upper thread tension or loosen the tension on your bobbin. I don't know if you are using a newer model sewing machine or an older one; but if it is like mine, there is a little screw on the bobbin you turn to loosen the tension.
My Kenmore sewing machine bunches up on the bottom if I am using a different type of thread in the bobbin than I am using on the top part of the sewing machine.

SOURCE: the tension is off ?? bottom thread bunches

Sounds like it could be! Probably worth trying to readjust it. Are you using a fine fabric too? That can cause bunching.

some machine can't handle thick fabric & some can
rethread the machine top & bobbin
clean under the needle plate & in the bobbin area
make sure the thread has not come off the thread take up lever

Thread bunching on my Activa 230

Hi Bettyme2.
just found this on the web.
Try rethreading the top. A sewing machine repairman told me one time that if the top messes up rethread the bottom and if the bottom messes up rethread the top. Check for lent in the bobbin area too. Don't use canned air but a soft clean brush. Hope this helps.

or try this link out.

Thread bunching and bobbin winder quit

This sounds a lot like you've forgotten to lower the presser foot. (this leaves the tension discs open and causes serious issues below the material.) Double check that and if still having issues post again.

When i sew the bobbin thread bunches up. what to do?

remove the thread and bobbin.
take out your manual and follow the exact instructions for threading and inserting bobbin.

If this does not help check the tension on the top(the number should be about mid way).
If it is too low it will bunch up on the bottom.

Thread bunces up on the bottom causing machine to

I would start by looking for a problem with the bobbin tension. Do you have the bobbin threaded through the case correctly? Is the the bobbin tension set to loose? Another thing that can cause it to spool up on the bottom is if it sews a bunch of stitches all in the same spot or real close, do you have the presser foot tension to loose?

The bottom thred is bunching up when sewing

Usually when the bottom thread is bunching or looping it means the top tension is too loose or the thread may not be in the take-up lever. If you're top tension is set between 4 and 5 and it's still bunching, there may be a piece of thread or lint caught between the tension disks.
