Yamaha wr450f speedo

The speedo on my 08 wr450f has gone blank after I held in the rst button for about 5 seconds, the back light is on but no numbers are displaying, I have disconnected and reconnected the battery but still nothing, sometim I can see them very faintly, does this mean I need a new speedo?

It seems that you got some water into it, if it is not totally sealed unit you can clean it and remove the water residue, if it is a sealed unit, you will have to get a new speedo
