Sanyo DP42746 LED blinks 12 times

I've seen this asked several times but I've already tried replacing parts and I've narrowed it down to a certain condition. In this image here http://i.imgur.com/DhyE8tH.jpg the error LED will blink 12 times indicating a DC12v issue but ONLY when the white ribbon cable (marked with red X on the image) is plugged in. If I unplug it, the error LED stays lit with no blinking and I can hear the speakers come on. So, with that bit of info, can someone give me an idea on where to go next? I've already replaced the buffer boards (not even installed at this point) and I've repaired all bad capacitors and checked all solder points.

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit stage inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power led, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating, to many popular brand TVs and other devices. Viewing it in "Mosaic" will make surf easy.

Blinking codes details to many popular brand TVs are given.
If you fail to detect the fault, it will be best to contact the authorized service center for Sanyo, in this case.

I've provided a solution, thinking that you can extract the troubleshooting procedure to the problem you faces with your TV, by the site I've pointed out. If not, can you come over me by Google Video Chat? If you can, inform me, when you can. Keep IST [Indian Standard Time]; between 10AM to 10PM only. OK?

Hello,

The issue you describe is consistent with a power supply board issue. This is the board where the AC goes to. This problem may have occurred as a result of irregular power supply, or excess power supply or power surge.

The TV is receiving current but cannot circulate or transfer the current to other necessary part of the TV because of the defective power supply board.

I do not think it needs replacement, rather some defective capacitors are causing this issue.
Open unit up and take a look at the power supply board. You will probably see one or more electrolytic filter capacitors that are bulged up in the top-not perfectly flat like the others.

The value of these capacitors will be different, most likely they will be somewhere around-820 to 2200uF/25 V( or /10V sometimes)

You can replace them with same values but I would recommend the voltage rating to be higher(like 35V for an original 25V) for reliability purposes.

What happens is,these bulged top capacitors will cause a low and unfiltered DC voltage=main board will malfunction(the relay will keep clicking until the caps are holding enough charge to bring the voltage up over a threshold point).

You can buy these capacitors at any Fry's or Radioshack store or you can order them online at vendors like "mcmelectronics.com"(look for electrolytic capacitors).
After replacing these capacitor(capacitors) most likely the normal operation will be restored.

Note: There may be also some other causes for this symptom ,like a defective T con board ,or main board, but the bulged top capacitors are the most common cause for this issue.

If you don't know about TV repairers, take the TV to the nearest repairman to fix the fault for you. Also, note that TV stores a lot of current, so wait a while before opening the TV back cover.

I hope this helps.

No video but audio is fine on Sanyo 42" DP42746 TV

If you unplugged the Ysus board, then you need to replace the Ysus board, or both sustain boards. This is the part: The part is often available on Ebay, or from manufacturer. Look also at Vance baldwin or Partstore. To do a good job the Sustain boards should be tested by a tech , following service manual. It is almost for sure sustain board by the way.

Sanyo dp42746 low volt power problems

The power supply is failing, or there is another circuit area that is pulling too much current, and the supply is going in to protect mode.

This would require proper troubleshooting by an experienced tech. If the problem is very involved, or the tech is not familiar with the set, he will require the service manuals and service information.

to test all y sub boards remove the main power connection to the y main and turn the tv on if it powers on one of those boards are bad.. remove both sub boards. and plug in the y main. if it powers on then that board is good either, put your multimeter on 2k omh and test the upper ysub boards black connector, the top 2 pins with negative to the 5th pin positive. you should read 500-1k ohm if its way under 100 there is a short.

the bottom ysub board place the multimeters black probe on the bottom 2 pins of the black power conection and the red on the 4th pin.. results are the same.

low resistance means theres a short in the board.
