I defraged my external hard drive and went to bed. When I checked my computer the next day, my F drive(external) wasnt showing up on My Computer, FL studio(music software),or the Quick Launch menu. It was, however, showing up in the task bar as the "safely remove hardware" button. Please help! This drive has so all the music I've made and a bunch of samples and synths.
Have you tried shutting down the computer ... unplugging the hard drive ... re-starting the computer .... and plugging in the hard drive (after the system is all ready for use) ?
It's likely the hard drive was "ejected" ... (after defrag ? or when the system went into standby/hibernation) .... and hence you see the icon in the task bar ... indicating that you can safely unplug the hard drive from the computer.

Open up Folder Options\View\Show Hidden Files and Folders. Return to your Toshiba HDD. Do you see an hidden files? If so, try to delete them. You may have to change the Properties of these Folders\Files in order to delete them. BE WARNED, removing or deleting any folders or files that Toshiba placed in there could have negative affects on the way your external HDD runs.
