sounds like u didnt install the connector on the right place.read the mother board very closely it has a diagram usually in tiny letters

The 20 pin connector is a reduced 24-pin connector, omitting pins 11, 12, 23 and 24. (as though they were just sliced off the end of the connector)

Would recommend replacing this unit instead of serrviceing it yourself it will cause adverse effect and may even smoke. These units once they dye there gone. If you need a diagram I would direct you to www.apex.com.
