Roxio burning dvd

I just got a reply to one of my previous question about converting .avi's to dvd, and I was just wondering if this process will make a copy of my .avi movie files that then converts into dvd, or does it just convert the original .avi into dvd. I don't want to lose the original file because i would still like to keep it on my laptop to watch movies from the hard drive. Thanks!!

I think it will not. The output has a different file name. But don't save the converted file same as the source file. Or you could try experimenting with it using a short avi file then convert it to dvd.

Also are you making its output be automatically burn unto the disc? It will keep its original file.

My asus dvd writer does not make dvd video which play on dvd player

If you're talking about making "Home Video" into playable DVDs it's not because there's necessarily a problem with your DVD-Burner. It's most likely because your home videos are being recorded as .AVI format files. There are some other file formats it could be, but it all boils down to the same problem: the DVDs you make will only play in computers or on the rare chance that you come across a DVD player that plays those formats. The best way to remedy this situation is to buy a program that will convert the files from .AVI to DVD. There are several to choose from. Roxio reportedly has software\programs that will do this. I'm sure that Nero does too. Both companies produce several different versions of "Burning Software" do your research and be sure you buy one that will convert the files for you. There is another one that I've personally used to convert the files and burn the DVDs for me. It's "I'm Too AVI-to-DVD". I know that is an odd name for a program, but it's straight forward in what it's function is. When I used this program to convert the file formats for me and burn the DVDs it literally took several hours to convert and burn about 5GB of video for me. I don't know if Roxio or Nero would be able to do it faster than that. converting file formats can be a lengthy process.

File images

There is no need to convert iso. Better you go to select file and select all the avi file you need to write on the CD/DVD. The files will be transferred on your disc.

Sansui VRDVD4000 format

I do not believe this player plays AVI videos, not to mention whatever codec you are trying to use.

Download VSO ConvertXtoDVD and convert your AVI files to DVD and then burn them to DVD-R (NOT DVD+R), the 4.7GB discs (single-layer).

This process takes a very long time, depending on the size of the movies you are converting, some 1-2 hours, some 8-24 hours.

I suggest buying a Philips DVD Player that plays DivX and XviD AVI files, they seem to be the best. You can just burn the AVI to any disc and it will play. [Most popular seems to be Philips DVP 642]

Cheers.
