I have a Bosch Schott Ceran model 9000293133 in our rental apartment. The problem is that I do not have a manual to help figure out how to use it! Whenever we place something on one of the hobs and press the power button the numbers just flash for approx 20 seconds before turning off. Almost as if the glass sensor doesn't recognise anything on the hob. Please help!

Try to do a search on the Internet, something like: Manual Bosch + your model number. I have usually had good luck finding a free download. Sometimes there are downloads also available directly on the manufacturer's website as well.
I navigated the SCHOTT website to find a solution and was able to find out how to properly clean my SCHOTT stove top. I would check the Ceran FAQ list to see if your question is answered before anything else.
If you have an illuminated red key symbol on the cooktop, press down where the illuminated red key is, for about 5 seconds. This method works on many Schott Ceran / Miele cooktops including the KM443 listed above.
If this doesn't work, please let me know the correct model number.
We have this exact same problem, and I've not managed to track down a manual (we rent and the landlord is on holiday).
I've tried holding down all buttons for a time, combinations of buttons, and turning it off at the mains, but no joy.
Did you ever solve this?
