Have recently received a doro cordless 540R series for xmas. the problem is i cant even ring on it as it has no ring or dialing tone. The reception symbol on phone is just flashing! working! presume u mean phone has dial tone and your able to dial out. Dial 17070 to verify your number. Possible u have crossed line. Hope this helps - BTscott

it sounds like you may not have any dial tone in the house. some phones have a light come on when the phone isn't recieving dial tone.[in your case the anntena] you can try plugging a corded phone into different jacks in the house.there maybe a box [called a nid] on the outside or in the basement/garage where you can plug a phone directly into it bypassing all the jacks in the house [there could be a problem in the house] if still no dial tone ,call your phone company
