Is the webcam installed properly on the laptop (I suspect that this is the problem)? Is the webcam Logitech? If so, install the driver and software again from the CD that comes with it (you can also download from their site). Made sure the cam works with their software, then run skype and it should work.

yes their is another way... you have to plug your camera to your PC... you must have install the driver of your camera in your PC...then plug the usb to your PC and camera...when it recognize you can download now your pictures...enjoyss

go to the ibm website type in your computer model and type numbers then you can download and install all the up to date drivers there.
if you install the .NET software you can use ibm thinkvantage software to update your machine automatically
