In general, Yahoo has slowly grown into a bloated pig because of all the advertising they plaster all over their pages and underneath the pages.
The one way which I have been able to speed up my Yahoo experience, is by specifically blocking every advertising site/server Yahoo attempts to go to through their webpages. How you do this is by editing your hosts file. On Windows, you will find it under C:\Windows\Systm32\drivers\etc
Carefully edit the file in Notepad and add the following lines:
127.0.0.1 static.ak.fbcn.net
127.0.0.1 1e100.net
127.0.0.1 a1.interclick.com
127.0.0.1 ad.yieldmanager.com
127.0.0.1 ad.wsodcdn.com
127.0.0.1 ad.wsod.com
127.0.0.1 ad.doubleclick.net us.lrd.yahoo.com
127.0.0.1 ad.teracent.net p.twitter.com socialprofiles.zenfs.com
127.0.0.1 adserver.teracent.net ads.pointroll.com
127.0.0.1 ads.yldmgrimg.net b.dp.yieldmanager.net tm.dp.yieldmanager.net
127.0.0.1 s0.2mdn.net ec.atdmt.com view.atdmt.com
127.0.0.1 a.scorecardresearch.com b.scorecardresearch.com
127.0.0.1 yahoo.serving-sys.com bs.serving-sys.com geo.yahoo.com
127.0.0.1 us.mg.mail.yahoo.com tps30.doubleverify.com
127.0.0.1 search.media.net mycdn.media.net ads.yimg.com ads.bluelithium.com
Save the host file - if it says the file is read only, right click on the filename, uncheck Read-only, save, then go back and re-check Read-only.
Now go to Yahoo and you should notice it runs a bit faster. You may get sections of the screen which indicate an error or a site is unavailable - just ignore it, that's one less advertisement you have to deal with.
