First unplug all power from your computer. Next open the side panel of the desktop. Inside the computer you will see the motherboard. locate the battery ( round flat like a quarter size, silver color). Carefully ( very carefully) remove it. Wait 10 seconds and reinstalled it. This will reset all your cmos or bios setting to factory setting including deleting your password.

another suggestion is boot the system from your OS disk, if you have one, and repair or reinstall OS. Reinstall should not cause you to loose any files.

He has accessed the bios and change the boot setting devices by enabling the floppy drive which you do not have.
Go Bios (F1 or F2) on first screen. and select load default setting
Also go to Boot Options and make sure 1st boot is the HDD not FDD or removable disk
Also in any menu mention of Floppy Disk make sure it is set to not installed or disabled.
keep me posted

Hello,
Could the boot record on the CD be damaged? Try it on another computer to find out. As the live CD loads the program in RAM, you need to see if your system has enough RAM (It depends on the minimum amount of RAM required to run the particular Linux Distribution)
By the way if you are interested in installing Linux inside Windows XP without creating a separate partition, Ubuntu offers this.
Hope it helps.

Check the Date and Time setting, if these are wrong you will get the Strike F1 and F2 message.

The BIOS battery is flat and it won't save the BIOS settings. In this case, replace the BIOS battery and configure the BIOS again.
Turn on your computer. If your computer is already on then reboot it. You need to see the initial display screen to get into the BIOS.
Press the "F2" key when you see the initial screen displaying the BIOS provider information. If using the Optiplex and Dimension models, press the "DEL" key instead of the "F2" key.
Enter password if required. When finished in the BIOS be sure to save your changes. For changes to take place you must reboot the computer.

If the bios is password protected you will have to dump the bios batter first, then reconfigure the bois.
