I have recently developed a bad buzz from the treble knob on my bass guitar. I have taken my tone knob section out and there is, what appears to be, a bad connection on the gray wire and a severed connection to either the back of the tone-knob or to another post that has no connection to any of the wires. The gray (ground?) wire is a double wire and i am assuming that the outer wire (the one that isn't connected to anything) goes on either the back of the tone-knob (to ground) or to the empty post i mentioned. Can anyone help?

It is a poor ground but it is not necessarily in your amp.
If it is only buzzing when you have a guitar or other piece of equipment connected try a new lead cable.
If it buzzes all of the time......remove the cover at the rear of the amp and remove control panel.
Inspect the feed line to the input. If it is loose or broken....repair or take to have repaired.

Ninety percent of what you want depends on the amp and speaker you are using.
You likely will want a 15 inch speaker in a bass cabinet to start with and a decent midrange driver as well.
No amount of EQ will fix an audio system that just can't put out the bass tones.

It very well may be. Sometimes the volume is arranged so that it will not go clear down... Hey, it saves the manufacturer a lot of calls saying there is no volume by people who forget to turn the volume up.
