I did the same. When you are in camera mode the lock/unlock button for the screen also does the same with the camera. I found this out by also having the camera locked and just started pushing buttons

The reason the contact is not appearing is because you are using the phone memory contact.
To switch to SIM memory contact, go to contact press select and scroll to setting press select again and scroll to memory in use press select and scroll to SIM card.
Press select and it will bring out your contact.

it is not about some one having the same issue,
the problem is that, something pressed that particular spot on the screen maybe you weren't aware.
thats how it will keep spreading out till the whole screen goes blank, just because they are all connected.
all you need is to replace the screen with a new one,
visit a samsung office or showroom near you.
