There arethree possibilities that cause this symptom. 1. The buttons on the TV are shorted and must be replaced. 2. The firmware must be upgraded. 3.The main bd is bad and must be replaced.

Replacement remotes should come with the codes, the las 1 I got had a booklet of codes for various types and makes of device, some had several codes any you needed to try each in turn until you go to the correct code. Not sure if the different makes of remote need the same or differnt codes. I suggest you contact the remotes maker for the possible codes.

Parker TV will work under TCL (Brand) codes.

In order to program a Directv remote you slide the switch at the top to tv, hold down the mute and select button at the same time until the indicator light at the top of the remote flashes twice. Then you enter a 5 digit code. If you go to the directv website http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/global/contentPageIF.jsp?assetId=P4380036#h:620.315 and put in the brand and model of your tv, it should show you what code to use.

1) Turn on TV;
2) Press TV on the remote control;
3) Press and hold SETUP, until the red LED indicator blinks twice;
4) Enter 9-9-1-1 on the numeric keypad;
5) Press POWER on the remote;
6) If the TV doesn't respond, repeat #3, #4, #5.

Replace the remote control. Its oscillator section is faulty.
