thats a zero cross error which usually means either one of both of the two following diodes are open on the G board D6116, or D6301

sure turn up your screen control for that color slowly if color comes back then the adjustor is just dirty (no repairable) make sure you don't see milky white lines or a solid color on a blank input.
put the unit on a video position that has no source so the tv displays the input label but nothing else.
slowly adjust the screen control( behind the front grille little black box with 6 little knobs on it)
untill you start to see the coresponding color then back it off till the color is gone, you are done.
if this doesn't work then check your video path from jungle to crt output, your output chip may ne fried

Either IC708 is faulty on the A board or the two pico fuses are blown on the A board PS701 and PS702

Diagnostic code meaning;

Nine blinks - Replace D 6116 and D 6301 on the "G" board, do not resolder as this will fix the problem temporary. Or Panel Module Error or Thermal Error. If it is intermittent 9 blinks, meaning sometimes the TV comes on and other times you get flashing, then change the switching regulator on the "G" board or check connections. Make sure the regulator is -12 or -13 (negitive).

the G module is bad I found that replacing the g module the problem goes away BUT YOU NEED A TECH to confirm it

there is a convergence problem inside the set you will need a good tech.

nine blinks means that there is a short inside the set you will have to find a tech to troubleshoot the set most probably is the G pcb

there is a possibility that the power switch capacitor has bubbled or leaked a remedy is to unplug the unit from the outlet for at least an hour then try to power it back on.

i will try to look for more information about other work-around's or which of the other parts are defective or almost defective, that is causing the problem.

Yes, especially big screen. It sounds like convergence is out of lign. Try menu and straighten out, wait until set is warm first.

according to all of the local repair shops, 9 blinks on the stand by light means that the power supply is shot. eand and every one told me that the set had to be taken to a service center for repair, since the power supply is in a board, not seperate. cost around my area is between 50 and 150 for the parts, labor from 100 to 200.

My view is never buy a sony again! 90% of the service shops will not touch sony, saying thay cannot be authorized by sony unless they pay sony for the certificate.

This TV is 10 years old and probably requires a service that replaces the backlight invertor or just a power supply issue. Check to see if the light blinks. (That is the fault code and then google the result for more information).
